It’s been a busy couple days!

The past few days have been real fun! We spent a day in Cleveland going to the junkyard, a day relaxing, and a day working on our cars! I got a lot done. I put in a new steering wheel cover cause mine was pretty old and falling apart. I also put in a different shifter from a 98 Windstar. It’s kind of like the Econoline one, but is shorter and doesn’t have that kink in it, so it fits around the wheel better. I bought a new rear view mirror from Nick that I installed too. It has auto-dim and compass features. The compass text is blue, which matches Rex perfectly.

I also put in a center console that Nick brought me up from South Carolina. The part that folds open sits flat on the floor, which I like better than my stock one that came to a rest at a 45 degree angle. The cupholders are also a more reasonable size. It cleaned up real nicely and fits in well. The awesome part about these consoles is that the back folds down for an armrest, or the console can flip closed for a third front-row seat!

I also put in some new door trim. The rubber trim around the edge of the doors on a 96-99 Taurus are painted to match the interior. Mine were obviously old and starting to show a lot of wear, so I replaced them with ones from a 2000+ which are unpainted and black. They look real nice, but you wouldn’t notice the difference unless you were looking for it. I guess that’s a good characteristic for a mod, right? Nick also helped Dave install a driver door handle with a keypad on it, and Anthony a spoiler on his trunk with an LED brake-light. It was a pretty intense day.

Nick left for his 9 hour drive home this morning, and I’ll be heading home Monday morning. Hopefully today and tomorrow we’ll have a good time before I have to head home and get back into the routine of working in the morning and going to bed early… I’m a little worried for myself.
