Yesterday must have been my lucky day. Just about everything went right.
I woke up at six am without my alarm going off. Time to go to the junkyard. I went over to Mario’s house and we left from there. We both drive a Taurus and he has a Gen 2 SHO he’s totally redoing. The junkyard we go to is on 8-Mile in Detroit, but it’s worth the drive cause it’s huge. I only need a few things but my interior color is hard to find in good condition for some reason. I’m walking though the yard and there’s the fog light I need, sitting in the engine bay, practically waiting for me! Awesome. I keep walking around and find the door panel I need replaced just sitting in the back seat of a Taurus! Wires disconnected and everything! Perfect! Then I see a Gen 1 Taurus Police Interceptor!!! I grab the grille (which for those who don’t know, has cooling slots on it instead of just being solid) for a total of about 25.00 spent at the junkyard. What’s the most awesome is that the grille is worth about 100 dollars. Ka-ching!
UPDATE: I posted the grille on the Taurus forums at 100 dollars, thinking it would sit for a while and I’d end up getting around 70-80 dollars for it. Totally not the case. It sold for full price in NINE minutes. Wow.
After that, I went out to the Ford Dealership my Dad works at for an oil change. My battery hasn’t been charging either so they put in a new alternator too. They had to get the alternator from a local parts supplier so it’s about an hour or so wait. After Dad and I go out to lunch, the car still isn’t done so I tell Dad I want to go on a test drive. He hooks me up with this guy Chris, who’s son actually graduated from Lake Orion. He lets me test drive a 2010 Taurus SHO.
It’s sooooo nice! I’ve never been in a 2010 Taurus before… which seems like a surprise with as big of a car nut I am. It can really go, and he let me take out out on the freeway which was fun. I especially liked the air conditioned seats cause it was blisteringly hot out. I don’t think I’d ever buy one though… It’s a little hard to see what’s behind you cause it has such a high belt-line.
After that I got a haircut so I’ll be nice and cool when I go to PA on Saturday. I’ll be gone through the 6th so I probably won’t be updating the blog… or maybe I will. Who knows. Oh yeah, and Mom planted the flowers in her chair
